Dimitar Manov was born on August 22, 1941 in the picturesque village of Sovoliano, Kyustendil region.
He graduated from the State Choreographic School (now NUTI - National School of Dance Art) in 1960, after which he was accepted with a competition in the State Ensemble for Folk Songs and Dances "Filip Kutev", where he worked until 1977 and quickly grew as a soloist - performer.
One of his most memorable performances are: The groom in the music-dance picture "Thracian Wedding" and one of the soloists in the chamber dance "Leventi".
